Northeast Florida Coalition for Access to Healthcare Quarterly Meeting

The Northeast Florida Coalition for Access to Healthcare is the re-imagined Uninsured Workgroup. The overarching goal of the coalition is to ensure that local providers and other healthcare partners work collaboratively and identify available local resources to address issues related to access to healthcare.

Practitioners, community workers, and providers interested in ensuring access to quality healthcare in Baker, Clay, Duval, Flagler, Nassau, St. Johns, and Volusia counties are invited to attend.

Cary serves as the Program Manager for the ACA Navigator Program at HPCNEF, overseeing a dedicated team of ten navigators covering our seven-county service area. With prior roles as an ACA Marketplace Certified Application Counselor and supervisor at a non-profit federally qualified health center, Cary brings a wealth of experience and a steadfast dedication to crafting effective healthcare solutions.

Lisa Sessions, LCSW, MSW, Health Insurance Specialist
Center for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) Region 4
Inflation Reduction Act Update

This presentation will provide an overview of the Inflation Reduction Act Medicare provisions. The audience will understand the key provisions of the new drug law, and how it affects Medicare beneficiaries. Topics to be covered are Medicare Drug Price Negotiation Program, Inflation Rebate Program, Part D Improvements, vaccine cost-sharing, expansion of Extra Help, and insulin caps (Part D and B).

Lisa has been with CMS since May 2023. Prior to CMS, she worked in the Managed Care industry as a Business Intelligence Analyst developing and reporting metrics for Medicare Advantage products. Lisa’s federal career began in 2010 with the Department of Veterans Affairs, Veterans Healthcare Administration (VHA) as a Senior Social Worker and Management Analyst. Lisa holds a Master’s in Social Work from Florida State University. In her spare time, she hikes, rides her Peloton, practices Yoga, and travels.

Alex DeAbreu, Outreach Specialist for Local Engagement Team
Center for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) Region 4
Medicaid Compliance Interim Final Rule

Medicaid Expert, Alex DeAbreu, will discuss the CMS Enforcement of State Compliance with Reporting and Federal Medicaid Renewal Requirements Under Section 1902(tt) of the Social Security Act.

Alex is an Outreach Specialist with the Local Engagement Team at CMS Atlanta (Region 4). Holding a degree in Marketing Analytics from the University of Richmond and a Master’s in Education and Counseling from the University of Georgia, Alex brings a diverse skill set to their role. Joining CMS in 2020 as a Presidential Management Fellow, he initially worked in the Marketplace IT Group in CCIIO, serving as the point of contact for internal business requests and translating regulations into software requirements. He now co-leads Marketplace outreach for the region, serves as the state lead for North Carolina and South Carolina, and contributes to various outreach projects and initiatives across the region focusing on Medicaid, Medicare, and the Marketplace. Alex is recognized as one of the key points of contact for breaking down different aspects of CMS and HHS policy and regulation.
