OD2A: LOCAL

Overdose Data to Action: Limiting Overdose through Collaborative Actions in Localities (OD2A: LOCAL)

SITUATION: The nation is facing an unprecedented epidemic of prescription and non-prescription drug overdoses. Duval County was awarded part of the Overdose Data to Action: Limiting Overdose through Collaborative Actions in Localities (OD2A: LOCAL) grant from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control (CDC) to link our community with services, combat stigma, and guide people onto the road to recovery.

PROGRAM OBJECTIVE: HPCNEF has partnered with the Florida Department of Health in Duval County (FDOH-Duval) on a CDC multi-year grant in order to (1) use data to better understand Opioid Use Disorders/Substance Abuse Disorders (OUD/SUD), and (2) put that data into action for prevention. HPCNEF created and currently monitors subcontracts for services aimed at reducing drug overdoses within Duval County. Department-approved subcontractors provide surveillance and prevention services for Duval County by expanding and enhancing work being performed locally.

IMPACT:

  • Helps local teams gather and use high-quality data on overdose morbidity and mortality trends to guide prevention efforts
  • Collaborates with partners to integrate innovative data collection methods for fast response to the overdose crisis
  • Provides administrative services, including financial and grant administration, related to project development, implementation, and evaluation of subcontracted partners
