Overdose Data to Action (OD2A)

SITUATION: The epidemic of opioid use kills hundreds of Jacksonville residents each year. In 2020, the Florida Department of Health reported 7,460 fatal overdoses in the state. 571 of those overdoses were in Duval County.

PROGRAM OBJECTIVE: HPCNEF has partnered with the Florida Department of Health in Duval County (FDOH-Duval) on a Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) multi-year grant in order to (1) use data to better understand Opioid Use Disorders/Substance Abuse Disorders (OUD/SUD), and (2) put that data into action for prevention.

IMPACT:

  • Provides administrative services, including financial and grant administration, related to project development, implementation, and evaluation of subcontracted partners
  • Hosts Requests for Proposals (RFPs) for Innovative Projects (IPSG) to explore gaps revealed by local data and identify potential projects to fund. Six new organizations applied for the latest round of Innovative Projects in July 2022.
