What does the Unwinding of the Medicaid Continuous Coverage Protection Mean for Florida?
When the COVID-19 public health emergency (PHE) was declared, Congress acted quickly to provide fiscal relief to the states and ensure that Medicaid enrollees did not lose coverage during the PHE. When the coverage protection is lifted, an estimated 15 Medicaid enrollees will lose their health insurance — nearly half of which will likely remain eligible but be disenrolled for procedural (non-eligibility) reasons. This doesn’t have to happen if states takes the time to get it right and work in partnership with health care stakeholders to avoid coverage losses. This session will explore options states have to smooth the transition and opportunities for health care partners to engage with the state in planning, implementation, and monitoring the unwinding.
Practitioners, community workers, and providers interested in ensuring access to quality healthcare in Baker, Clay, Duval, Flagler, Nassau, St. Johns, and Volusia Counties are invited to attend.
