Subject: Transition: Dawn Emerick, Ed.D., CEO, Health Planning Council
Dawn Emerick, who currently serves as CEO of the Health Planning Council of Northeast Florida, has announced her intention to transition from her current role over the next several months.
For more than 40 years, the Health Planning Council has been a champion for healthy communities, lifestyles and accessible, quality health and wellness in Baker, Clay, Duval, Flagler, Nassau, St. Johns and Volusia counties.
During Emerick’s tenure as CEO, the Health Planning Council’s impact and scope has grown tremendously in the region. The board is grateful for her leadership, vision, and dedication during her six years as the Health Planning Council’s leader.
Emerick has helped the Health Planning Council establish itself as an unbiased, reliable source for information, as well as a leading resource for national, state and local health knowledge, trends and reliability that is unmatched. Emerick has also been instrumental in establishing the Council as stewards in the integration of health in to all policies in non-traditional sectors such as transportation, housing, employment, and agriculture and connecting these sectors to health improvement and health equity.
Emerick will transition effective May 2, but will assist the board and staff of Health Planning Council before her departure and will continue to act as counsel to the organization. She will continue in her efforts to ensure that the Health Planning Council is seen as an unbiased and reliable source for information.
Nikole Helvey, Senior Vice President, Operations, will act as the interim CEO while the Health Planning Council board conducts a formal search for a new CEO.
The board and staff remain committed to the vision of the Health Planning Council and to ensure that it continues to occupy a unique and valuable position in the planning, delivery, and support of health and healthcare services in the North Florida region.
We wish Dr. Emerick the best in her endeavors and are grateful for all her work on behalf of the Health Planning Council.
