Jacksonville, Fla., Aug. 25, 2014 – Effective Sept. 2, Deanna McDonald will assume responsibility as the Chief Executive Officer of the Health Planning Council, an organization whose mission for more than 40 years has been to champion healthy communities, lifestyles and accessible, quality health and wellness in Baker, Clay, Duval, Flagler, Nassau, St. Johns and Volusia counties.
“The board conducted an exhaustive search throughout the Southeast U.S. with the assistance of Sterling Search and Consulting, a Jacksonville-based executive search firm. We looked for the best candidate to lead the Health Planning Council through the ever-changing healthcare environment, and Deanna rose to the top of the list,” says board chair Susan Ponder-Stansel. “Throughout her career, Deanna has demonstrated she is an experienced healthcare, financial and business executive with strong leadership and management skills. She is a results-oriented leader recognized for her ability to create high performance teams and cultivate relationships with broad-based groups of internal and external stakeholders. We are fortunate to have such a strong individual join our team.”
McDonald joins the Health Planning Council from Florida Blue, where she served most recently as the Group Vice President for Enterprise Competitive Transformation and ¬was responsible for architecting, designing and overseeing the execution of a holistic system to improve the organization’s competitiveness in response to industry changes. During her tenure with Florida Blue, McDonald also provided leadership of the company’s strategic planning and controllership process, while serving as Group Vice President, Enterprise Strategy and Diversified Business. Additionally, McDonald served on the inaugural Board of Directors for Florida Blue’s philanthropic Foundation and is a member of the Finance Committee for the United Way of Northeast Florida.
